St Julians in Malta is a popular destination. There is so much to see and do that you will have a hard time keeping up with everything. Here we list 5 things you must not miss if you visit St. Julians, but fortunately there is much more to see and experience.
Walk along the promenade
According to Philosophynearby, St Julians has a long nice promenade that is used by everyone. Here you see joggers, prams and couples enjoying a romantic sunset. Start at Balutta bay and walk slowly towards Spinola bay. Here you can end with a mandatory selfie at Love Sign.
Bada i st Georges bay
For us Swedes, it may feel a little strange, but it is also a cool experience to swim on an artificial beach that is actually not less than 200 meters from the busiest street. For the budget traveler, it is excellent to bring a beer from the supermarket and enjoy the sunset on the beach before it is time for the evening’s party.
Eat Rivareno ice cream and admire the marina
At the bus stop in St. Julians, before the Portomasorondellen with the big palm trees, you will find the ice cream café Rivareno. Here you can buy a cup with quality Italian ice cream. Then take the ice cream with you and enjoy it on the stairs down to Portomasomarinan, or in the park right by the bus.
Drink a Bomboclat at Juul’s reggae bar
If you stand at Love Sign and look up towards the heart of Paceville between the fishing boats in Spinola bay, you will see a staircase. If it’s evening, it’s full of happy people who are out having fun. If you go up the stairs, you will see Juul’s reggae bar on the left. Here you can go in and order a Bomboclat. What you get then is a mojiito that is yellow, red and green striped. Here you can then enjoy your drink on the stairs at the island’s most relaxed bar.
Try the Maltese cuisine
There are an enormous number of restaurants in St Julians. It is not entirely easy to choose. Gululu in Spinola bay is famous for its Maltese food, and then there are many Italian restaurants. What is still the safest card is to eat a good piece of meat at one of the many steakhouse restaurants located so that you have a view of the sunset at Spinola bay. If you feel that it suits your budget and taste better, you can instead choose to try one of the many hamburger restaurants. You might think that fish is the best in Malta, but the fact is that the Maltese themselves appreciate meat the most and therefore it is best to invest in a good piece of meat if you want to be sure not to be disappointed.
There is a lot to see and do in St Julians but if you have at least had time for these 5 things I am sure you will feel satisfied with your holiday. What should perhaps also be on the list is to swim in one of the many pools located on the hotel roof, with fantastic views of the Mediterranean or to eat local pastissi from one of the small kiosks.
